Hôtel Le Concorde

The hotel is conveniently situated as the old town starts just across the street and there is a store next to it. It is close to the bus/train station and the university. Everything is within a walking distance. Breakfasts are great with food being refilled constantly. Rooms are not too big, so there is a sense of a typical French hotel, but recently renovated and pleasant. Bathroom was clean and functional. We had a small problem with hot water, but the reception gave us a nice discount for the inconvenience. Last but not least, the service is great and the staff is very helpful showing a lot of efforts to make your stay a great memory. And all this for a reasonable price. Fully recommended.

We had a family room facing the courtyard that provided plenty of extra space for luggage. It was clean when we arrived and the AC worked wonderfully! We were surprised as many hotels claimed to have AC but had it locked and you could not adjust. This place actually allowed you to adjust the temperature. We were glad they had a bagagerie (luggage storage) for free so we could leave our bags until it was time to check in. The location was great. Plenty of shops and restaurants on Rue d'Italie and a short walk from Cours Mirabeau. There is also a convenience store on the corner. We did have a few issues. First we did not get more than lukewarm water and the walk-in shower was cold as there was no wall or curtain to keep air in. Second, there were loud guests in the courtyard. Although this is the fault of the guests not the hotel, the staff were aware but seemed to be ignoring them and just hoping they'd stop on their own. 6+ hours later they were still very disruptive and the staff could have intervened sooner on behalf of the rest of the guests. It is important to note that there is no hotel staff overnight. I believe they told us between midnight and 7am there are no staff. I am not sure what happens if you get locked out of your room or forget the gate code and it is between those hours.
